Unreported consequencesJul 09, 2007
By Dr. R Well, I was excited as ever to try this product as an alternative to a traditional statin. I originally bought the 60 pill bottle, then the 240 pill bottle. I took a physical before and my scores were as follows: 12/06: total choles. = 252; triglycerides= 154; HDL= 42; LDL=179; and VLDL= 36. I took Cholestoff for approx. 3 months as prescribed within 15-30 mins. before meals. Then I repeated a physical ad my results were are follows: total choles.= 251; TRIGLYCERIDES = 260!!; HDL= 36; LDL= 162 (great and as advertised!); and my VLDL's = 52!!!
So my synopsis is as follows. The product did appear to do what it said in terms of lowering my LDL levels, but at a sub level it grossly affected my triglyceride level as well as my VLDL (very low density lipoprotein). For the past 4 annual physicals before taking this product, my triglycerides have always been in the 120-181 range, with my most recent measurememt being 154 as stated above. Additionally, my VLDL levels for that same period have always been within the range of 24-36 (within normal limits), and this last testing threw me out and above of normal limits.
So, choose what you will about trying the product... I am only writing because I consider myself an educated consumer, and tried to read as much as I possibly could find on this product before trying it. I wanted to extend my story so that people have a balanced view of the product as recorded by test results.
I am now off of Cholestoff and will not take it again. However, I have not given up on trying other products, and will see for the next 3 month period the effects of taking "Oilsmart" fish oils (3, 6 & 9), along with and ayurvedic supplement from Solaray called guggul. I will let you know how that turns out.
Good luck! D

Cholest Off & CholesterolMar 12, 2006
By Harry Larrabee Sr. First started taking Cholest Off in the 60 Caplet Bottle, am now utilizing the Cholest Off in the 240 Caplet Bottle in an attempt to reduce my Cholesterol. After taking Cholest Off since the summer of 2005 my cholesterol has dropped from 252 to 217 along with diet and exercise. Would appear the product does work as advertised. It is also a lot safer than taking prescription cholesterol medication which requires blood work every 6 weeks to 3 months to ensure ones liver hasn't or isn't being damaged.

Good product!Sep 11, 2007
By W. Baker I've got Excel records of my cholesterol going back 17 years now. I started taking Cholest Off when I hit a maximum of 236 in April 06....usually it was around 200. The main reason for the high number I'm guessing is that I had put on a good 15 extra pounds. My LDL was 168, HDL 42 and Triglycerides 128. In addition to the Cholest Off, I took off the extra pounds. In May this year: Cholesterol 187, LDL 126, HDL 50 and Triglycerides 46. I've been on an extremely low cholesterol diet and aerobics for all of the 17 years after having hit just under 300 cholesterol.
In all 17 years, my Cholesterol, LDL and Triglycerides have never been lower than in May this year. Another user said his triglycerides went up after taking Cholest-Off so I guess if you use this product, the best thing is to keep track of what happens. It may do you good.....or it may not. I'm going to keep taking it. Oh yes, I only intake cholesterol food at my evening meal. I take two Cholest-Off tablets 15-30 minutes before. That's the only time I take the tablets.

It works.Mar 19, 2009

I stopped taking statin drugs because they were interfering with my memory and my cholesterol shot up to over 200. I read a book called "Cholesterol Down" which recommends this product. The product itself directs the user to take only 4 caplets a day, whereas "Cholesterol Down" advises six a day. I took six a day for six weeks and my cholesterol dropped about 50 points. I now take four a day.
Please remember that cholesterol provides many more positive than negative functions in the body. Patients need to know their levels of c-reactive protein, which is perhaps a bigger indicator than cholesterol levels of trouble down the road. If I'm not mistaken (and if I am, someone here will certainly correct me), cholesterol acts as a patch to areas of the arteries that become inflamed. High levels of c-reactive protein are one of the causes of that inflammation, and one of cholesterol's jobs is to rush to the trouble spot and patch things up. However, the more the inflammation continues, the more cholesterol builds up, and then you've got big trouble.
I experienced no side effects (I lost some weight but I'm not sure there's a direct connection). But check with your doctor and find out what your CRP level is. I've had doctors tell me a cholesterol level of 250 is no big deal so long as the CRP is where it should be.

Awesome Product!!!Nov 03, 2009
By C. Kraft I wanted to share my wife's experience regarding Cholest Off. She began taking it on 10/8/09 for a total cholesterol of 257, LDL of 174, triglycerides of 87, and HDL of 65. She is 119-lb., 33 year-old who is active, nonsmoker, no alcohol, no fast food, no soda, no high fructose corn syrup, no fatty meats, you get the idea...a health nut or so we thought. Her doctor reassured us her cholesterol was heredity but entertained the idea of my wife lowering it herself. She expressed her concern about prescription cholesterol medications and the potentially dangerous side effects, especially the statins, but lamented about not being able to exercise. She is a RN and sees the the devastation high cholesterol can cause so as she put it, "I have plenty of motivation." She had surgery on 10/2/09 and was instructed by her surgeon to remain on light duty and no physical exertion until 11/15/09, so I bought her Cholest Off because she would not be able to employ the cardio needed to reduce her cholesterol. She modified her diet and incorporated more vegetarian meals in addition to taking Cholest Off per the manufacturer instructions. On 11/2/09, she had her cholesterol checked again with a pleasant surprise. Her total cholesterol is now 173, her HDL is 72, triglycerides are 64, and her LDL is 88. I believe these results warrant a five star rating for Cholest Off.
