5EPA & DHA NUMBERSJul 19, 2010
By Makakio "Maka"
Doing research on a prescription pill called Lovaza as an alternative to this. I called Costco, spoke with their pharmacy for this supplement they quoted:

EPA 410mg per
DHA 274mg per

Compared to the wonder drug (for high-tri problems) Lovaza:

EPA 465mg per
DHA 375mg per

So you're getting a little less EPA and considerably less DHA compared to the prescription fish oil pill. But for me (and I'd assume most people who have pharmacy copays and/or deductibles), the cost of taking one additional supplement capsule per day is ultimately FAR less expensive than going prescription.

5Enteric coating works!Dec 04, 2006
By Kat A.
I'd had to discontinue my use of regular fish oil capsules because they gave me not only the dreaded "fish belch" but also heartburn/indigestion. I've been taking this brand of enteric coated caps for several days now and have had no problems whatsoever. Shipping was quick, packaging was good. Very satisfied!

5Results are in: These _work_Aug 25, 2009
By Banan Tarr
I take regular blood tests as a factor of my employment. In the past, I've had high cholesterol and triglycerides. Three months ago I decided to start taking daily fish oil supplements. Two months ago I picked up this particular kind. A month ago I started taking two of these per day, based on the fact that a coworker told me about his daily intake as directed by a doctor.

So, what was the result so far?

My triglycerides dropped over 30% in 3 months!
My overall cholesterol dropped, while at the same time my good cholesterol went up.

And these are the medically measurable results. Other things I've noticed:

My mood has improved dramatically. It takes a lot to break me out of a good mood now.
My hair and skin both look and feel much healthier.
I seem to have slightly lower blood pressure as well, but I can't be sure.

So, long story short: For me, these just plain _work_. And there is zero fishy aftertaste or burping. The price is right as well. You have nothing to lose, just beware of the warning labels as with all supplements.

4Good product, but how much EPA & DHA?Jan 16, 2009
By Amazonian
I've been very pleased with this product- easy to take, only need 1 or 2 per day, seems to have a good concentration of Omega-3s. My concern is that unlike most other fish oil pills, there is no information on how much EPA and DHA (specific types of Omega-3s) are in the pills. My understanding is that EPA and DHA are what is good for you, and the miscellaneous other Omega 3s are not as helpful. The figure of 684mg total Omega 3s seems high (good), but who knows how much of that is the helpful EPA and DHA omega 3s? Does anyone have any information on this?

Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega 3, a very expensive brand, contains 325mg EPA, 225mg DHA and 90mg "other Omega 3s" in each pill. These Kirkland pills have a little more total Omega 3 (684mg vs 640mg) but who knows if there is much or any of the beneficial Omega 3s.
